Knowledge of image rights and privacy in medical internship
Abstract
Healthcare professionals’ education and training must be guided by respect for the ethical and legal
principles of the profession. This descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study analyzed the
level of knowledge exhibited by medical interns at the Universidad Privada del Este, Ciudad del Este
headquarters, on the right to use patient images on the internet. Interns from the Universidad Privada
del Este, Ciudad del Este headquarters, doing their internship in 2024 were included in the study
sample. A total of 50 participants answered an online questionnaire. Regarding the use of images in
medical settings, 34 were in favor whereas 16 were against. This study highlights the need to improve
teaching about image rights and privacy in medical education.
